Dans l’enceinte sacrée, le chef de l’État a imploré les bénédictions du guide pour le Sénégal, appelant à la paix pour le pays et à une protection particulière pour sa jeunesse. Il n’a pas manqué de saluer la mémoire de l’ancien khalife, Serigne Cheikh Saliou Mbacké, avec une profonde déférence.
Mais cette visite n’était pas que spirituelle. Le président a tenu à rassurer le khalife sur la logistique du plus grand rassemblement du pays. Face à un auditoire attentif, il a énuméré les dispositifs colossaux déjà en place : gestion de l’eau, assainissement, drainage, soins, électricité et sécurité. « Les promesses ont été tenues », a-t-il martelé, précisant que les ultimes aménagements seraient bouclés avant le jour J. Conscient des défis posés par la saison pluvieuse, l’État a joué la carte de l’anticipation en positionnant secouristes et forces de l’ordre bien en amont du flux des pèlerins.
Au-delà de l’urgence immédiate, le président a insisté sur une vision à long terme pour Touba, promettant un développement durable pour la ville sainte. Après les discussions, le cortège présidentiel s’est dirigé vers la Grande Mosquée. Dans un moment de ferveur intense, le président s’est longuement recueilli devant le mausolée de Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, priant pour la sérénité du Sénégal et l’accomplissement parfait de ce pèlerinage 2026.
